Coaching Requirements

This year, as we begin the process of credentialing performance cheer coaches, we are requiring that all performance cheer coaches receive their ICU level 1 credentialing for the type of routine they are coaching: pom, hip-hop or jazz. If a coach plans to teach a higher level next year, they will have to be certified to that level but only next year as we phase in this credentialing for performance cheer.

The following courses are mandatory for ALL Cheer Manitoba coaches:

• All coaches taking part in Cheer Manitoba events must be credentialed up to the level of their registered team(s)
   

• Coaches must be a registered member of Cheer Canada
   

• ​First Aid & CPR Certification. (8-hour course)
   

• Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search
   

• Child Abuse Registry Check​
   

• Respect in Sport
   

• Concussion Training. (Must be Sport Manitoba approved course administered via Sport Medicine & Science Council of Manitoba)
   

• NCCP Making Ethical Decisions Course
   

• NCCP Emergency Action Plan Course
   

• Cheer Manitoba Screening Disclosure Form
