Following the news release last week, we would like to update you as to what that means for cheerleading. The Province is allowing indoor sporting facilities to open up to 25% for individual instruction only. No group classes.
This is what Cheer Manitoba expects of our membership:
Gyms can re-open for individual (1:1) instruction, no practices or groups.
Masks must be worn at all times.
Covid Screening questions (attached) must be asked and responses recorded on contact tracing sheet.
Temperatures should be taken, but do not record the temperature… just note if it is within the acceptable range (yes/no)
Contact tracking must be kept, there is a template attached that must be used.
Maximum capacity of 25%, includes staff and patrons. This is based on the practice area and not the facility.
Capacity must be clearly marked at the entrance to your facility, so it is easily viewed prior to entry.
Further clarification:
A coach is required, athletes are not allowed to train solo. It is the 1:1 ratio.
Siblings with one coach is not allowed. Cheer Manitoba has not been provided with any rationale on this point but have been clearly told that it is only 1:1 training for everyone.
For the 1:1 instruction, close contact (spotting) is allowed up to a maximum of 15 minutes. Social distancing should be maintained if not spotting.
Multiple 1:1 instruction can happen at the same time providing it is under 25% of the practice space (meaning the mats/floor space, not the room space), and social distancing is being practiced.
Additional staff may be in the building outside the practice space - as long as the 25% capacity of the building is not exceeded.
The information/questions provided by Cheer Manitoba/Province of Manitoba must be posted at the entrance and/or at the table to sign the contact tracing form.
All Covid 19 cleaning and sanitization protocols must be strictly adhered to.
Cheer Manitoba will do periodic site inspections to ensure all guidelines are being followed.
Cheer Manitoba is excited for this small step at re-opening our sport. Please ensure you follow all guidelines and cleaning protocols to help us move forward safely so that we are ready when the Government allows more access to our gyms. Please feel free to reach out to us with your questions or concerns!
